Hey Everyone!!!
So I have been going through flights for Sevilla and before I book I wanted to see if anyone else has booked their flight yet. Also I didn't know if some of you were flying together and if that was something you guys wanted to do. I had a change of plans and will not be in Italy before our program starts. Also, I hope we can all get together for dinner and throw out some ideas on where we all would like to travel to. I know this is the busiest time for everyone, but I thought it would be a great idea for us to get to know each other a little before we leave for Sevilla. I'm very excited to get to know all of you!

The British newspaper "The Gardian" talks about the Metropol Parasol inauguration.
I just found an article in The Gardian that talks about the Metropol Parasol, the project that I mentioned in my previous blog. Check it out, it looks as something that all of us are really going to enjoy!

Metropol Parasol will open next weekend
The latest great architectonic project in Seville will open its doors next weekend. This massive construction is practically downtown Sevilla, i.e. all the students from the SIUE-study abroad program will be able to walk to it and enjoy it.
Here is a model of the project:
There is no physical space to take a picture like this, but here is a link where you can read more about what is this and see some real pictures. Metropol Parasol will offer an archeological site, a farmers market, an elevated plaza, multiple bars and restaurants underneath and inside the parasols, as well as a panorama terrace on the very top of the parasols.Click on the pictures to make them larger. You will be able to have a better idea of what you will be able to see once there.

Sevilla en bici
Did you know that Sevilla is a wonderful example of how cities can transform from car-oriented to more people-oriented places through the implementation of strong policies to encourage cycling? In just 3 years, the City has gone from 6,000 daily bicycle uses to more than 66,000!
You can rent bikes all over the city, and use its bike-paths almost all over the city. It's a great way of getting in shape and enjoying the great weather that the city has to offer, especially during the spring months!
Here is a link that will help you get familiar with biking in Sevilla!

Welcome to ¡A Sevilla!
Hola a todos,
¡A Sevilla! is going to be our blog from now until the end of our program. I want this blog to be a way to share among us ideas, news about Sevilla, even prices that we are finding to fly to Sevilla. Everything that you may consider of interest for the program can be published here. Some of you might be more experience bloggers than me, in fact I am completely new at this (although I have the input from experienced bloggers at the department), so feel free to offer recommendations as often as you want.
Once we are in Sevilla, this blog will become a showcase for our trip that your friends and family can check, and also an academic tool where you will publish assignments regularly.
As I said, the blog will be use for assignments in our class, so it will be useful to get familiar with it if you do not have any experience.
Hopefully, this will be a fun tool for all of us,
Joaquin
